Last Day of School

It's official! Natalie is finished with her first year of school, and is now officially in 1st Grade!

Natalie with her favorite teacher Mrs. C
The last day of school was optional at Natalie's school but Natalie insisted on going for the one-hour day they were having so she could give Mrs. C the card she had made for her. We had considered doing something nicer (like flowers or chocolate) but knowing the parents I figured Natalie's teacher would receive lots of those things. So Natalie made her a beautiful card covered in glittery flowers that told Mrs. C how much she loved having her as a teacher. It may seem obvious that Natalie would adore her Kindergarten teacher but Natalie is unlike other kids in that she's had 2 teachers this year. And in comparison, Mrs. C won by far.
I can't believe Natalie is now in 1st grade! She seems so big now (and not just in her size!) - seeing how Natalie has matured and grown this past year in school has been amazing to watch. She had perfect scores on her report card in every area, and this is probably just a mom thing, but I think she is the smartest kid!! :)
Congratulations Natalie on a wonderful first year of school - way to go my beautiful girl!!!

Spring Soccer 2010

Nathan participated in soccer for the first time this Spring (I use that term loosely). He was so excited to play soccer, especially with his two good friends on our street. They were all so adorable in their too-big shorts, extremely tall socks, and orange jerseys. But with the weather being so miserable these last 2 months they only wore their full uniforms for a couple games. Nathan usually wore his lined jeans with his jersey over his coat. So the very last game of the season was finally a beautiful day and I got some cute pics!

Goal!!

Go after that ball!
(Nathan was so timid the first few games that I never thought he would actually play!)

Creed, Nathan, and Jordan goofing off during the game - those boys sure had fun together!

I call this picture "Surrogate Grandparents" - Nathan ended up standing next to them when it wasn't his turn to play. I have no idea who they are but they do look like they could be his grandparents! haha :)

The only thing better than the snacks after the games was... the trophy! Can you tell how proud of himself Nathan is? We are sure proud of you little man!

Best friends - Jordan, Nathan, & Creed
Despite all the crazy weather our boys did so amazing and seemed to have so much fun together, we'll definitely have to do this again next year!!!

Kindy 500

The Kindergarten classes at Natalie's school had a Kindy 500 day in May. Each of the kindergartener's had to make their own vehicle out of a large box to "drive" around the school in a parade for all the parents and other classes. Natalie was so excited about doing this - she knew exactly how she wanted her car to look. Dan did the spray-painting and assembling of the car, while Natalie and I did the decorating. It turned out super cute!! Natalie is pointing out her painting outside her classroom in the hallway

Check out the Texas license plate! It doesn't get any cooler than that!!

Natalie & Nathan - seeing their true personalities!

The festivities started with the kids all singing some patriotic songs.
(Natalie is in the middle)

And they're off on the parade!

The kids made 2 laps around the school, being cheered on by all the parents and older students. It was so much fun to see all the cute cars, but of course we thought Natalie's was the best!

After the parade the classes were put into small groups and "drove" to stations set up around the school to learn about our great nation's history. Here Natalie is learning about the liberty bell. That's Natalie's little wave saying "Yes, I see you Mom, but could you please let me pay attention now?" She had so much fun at the Kindy 500!

Bipolar Utah Weather

Is it Spring yet? Some days it certainly feels like it...but lately we've been experiencing something closer to Christmas...

This was the view out our back window on Monday morning - and it continued to snow all day!

But don't worry, the kids found lots of fun things to do inside...
Why not bury your baby brother in stuffed animals?
Fortunately Tyler didn't mind too much (as long as he was given snacks!)

Of course the next day the weather was beautiful again...
So we were back outside!

Tyler loves taking toys on rides in his wagon

Now if this nice weather would just stay here!!
