Hangin' Out with Dad

Dan & Tyler enjoying a Sunday afternoon
The favorite lounging spot

What a cutie!

Not sure exactly what these guys are doing...
So silly!!

Storytime

One day I walked into Tyler's room (having just laid him down in his crib) and this is what I found-
Natalie was telling a story to the boys (who were completely enthralled)

Tyler loves having an older brother and sister that pay attention to him (most of the time)

When Natalie finished her story, Nathan said "More story!" And so Natalie proceeded to tell about 8 stories (none more than a minute long) involving different animals, princesses, and other fun things. This was such a special moment for me - all 3 kids interacting and getting along!

By the way, for those of you who don't see Nathan at home very often the first picture is how WE see him all the time - blanket wrapped around his head with fingers in the mouth. I'm so glad I caught it on camera! Also, can you tell Natalie and I had picked out new tights that day? I told her it was waaayyyyy too hot for tights, but in the end there was no reasoning with pink polka dots!!

Dog Days of Summer

This is Texas = It is HOT! What have we done for the last two weeks? The pictures tell it all...

(yes, that's my side of the bed)

Hank loves Dan's computer bag

Oh the bliss of slumber

Nice cool place to sleep

And of course we've watched way too much TV

Obviously we've had nothing better to do with our last few weeks of summer. It's even been too hot for swimming! Fortunately for us school starts THIS WEEK!! I have finally gotten my act together and am doing a preschool co-op with 5 other moms. And I can't say how excited I am! So check back later this week to find out how Natalie's first week of school goes.

Who wears short shorts?

Nathan does!!
Dan took Natalie and Nathan to the pool last night since I wasn't feeling well - thanks babe, you're the best! As soon as he got off work he took the kids and swim bag (with all their swimsuits in it) and headed out for a fun evening of swimming. They came home once it got too cold, bearing treats for their sick mommy - a Wendy's frosty and french fries, YUM!
I was a bit distracted with my delicious treat so it was awhile before I noticed that Nathan's swim shorts looked really small, like maybe they had shrunk a few sizes in the washer.
Nathan in the small swim shorts (he obviously isn't bothered by their size)

Actually, the swim shorts had NOT shrunk in the washer, although they were many sizes smaller! Dan had put TYLER'S swim shorts on NATHAN!! Yes, Tyler's 0-3month size swim shorts! Granted, they do have matching swim shorts. So what is harder to believe - that Dan didn't notice how small the shorts were, or that they actually FIT?! We definitely got a good laugh out of that last night. And I'm pretty sure Dan won't make that mistake again! :)

My Boyfriend's Back - Peggy's Blog

Lately, our dog Peggy has been running out the front door every chance she gets (several times a day!) and will be gone for hours. Now we may joke about how we want animal control to pick her up and we wouldn't miss her at all - but she does hold a place in our lives and I have to admit that I am rather fond of her. Of course all this escaping is very irritating and we leave her outside (don't even try to go after her), and she eventually comes back home barking at the front door.
So we wondered why Peggy was suddenly escaping so much more - and now we know. The other morning I looked outside to see ANOTHER rat terrier in our backyard! A BOY dog! And then it all made sense why Peggy was so anxious to go out - Peggy's got a boyfriend!

Getting to know each other dog-style (Peggy is on the left)

Peggy & Boyfriend

They followed each other around our backyard for several hours until it got too hot - then the other dog squeezed out our back gate and went home. He's come by several times since then as well. Who would have guessed that our anti-social Peggy could have a boyfriend?!

Our Big Little Man

Tyler is now 3 months old! I can't believe it's already been 3 months since he was born - how time flies!! The funny thing is that it feels like Tyler has always been in our family, I honestly can't remember what it was like before he arrived. He has always had a place with us.

Due to a mild virus, Tyler went to the doctor on August 4 (his official 3 month mark) and weighed in at a whopping 17 pounds!! Needless to say, the boy likes to eat. :) And I'm pretty sure my biceps have never looked better!

Happy Birthday to Us!!

August 1, 2002

Dan got me the most beautiful roses!

The Eastman Family is now 6 years old - yep, we just celebrated 6 years of marriage on August 1. Wow, the time has gone by fast!! It seemed like just the other day that Dan and I were dating, and now we have 3 kids! We were so fortunate to actually go out and celebrate our anniversary - my mom and dad came over and watched all 3 kids for us - way to go Mom & Dad! We did the traditional dinner and a movie (can't even remember the last time we did that!), we saw "Iron Man" at the dollar cinema - it was GREAT, and then ate at Olive Garden in honor of our wedding day dinner.

This was how we found Tyler with Dad when we got home. He sure can melt your heart :)

We made a quick stop at Barnes & Noble to pick up my reserved copy of "Breaking Dawn" by Stephenie Meyer. I've already finished it and you can read my review/comments here: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1162543.Breaking_Dawn
As you can see, I was sooooooo excited for this book to come out! (it was worth the wait!!!)

And here we are after 6 years of wedded bliss (Dan, I can hear you laughing), or should I say a fun ride that has had some detours? Point is, we've made it six years! Woohoo!!!

Beauty and the Beast

Natalie and I had a "girls' night" with some of her friends and their moms (my friends) last week - we went to see the musical Beauty and the Beast and the Zilker Hillside Theater. We all had a great time, even though we were in the waaaaaay back. The music was wonderful and I found Natalie and I singing along several times. Thanks for inviting us Emmy & Ellie!

Who is who?

Nathan or Tyler? Can you tell who is who in the following pictures...

All I want for Christmas is my...

"two front teeth!" Natalie just lost both of her bottom front teeth in the past month - way to go!!! She was a little hesitant when Dan went to "check" to see how loose her tooth was, but when he pulled it out without it hurting AT ALL then she had no problem with him pulling out the second tooth a few weeks later. Plus, she discovered that it's not that bad losing a tooth when you get a visit from the TOOTH FAIRY! Natalie was so excited to put her tooth in an envelope under her pillow with a picture for the tooth fairy...

This is the Tooth Fairy, complete with crown and flowers on her dress. Since Dan is filling that capacity in our home it sure would be fun to see the "tooth fairy" actually wear that crown and dress! But he pulled it off without a hitch - Natalie woke up to find an envelope under her pillow with stickers and $$$!! Now how much money do you give kids nowadays for losing a tooth? I thought we should be generous and suggested a quarter per tooth (of course I'm remembering getting a nickel or dime for my teeth). Apparently that wasn't very generous at all - Dan was horrified by my "quarter" suggestion, saying we should at least give her a couple dollars. You know, enough to actually buy something. I guess I can thank my parents for instilling my meager generosity. So Natalie got a whopping $2 for her one baby tooth, and she was thrilled! Of course she used the stickers on paper, which she decorated, then gave to me. And she used her $2 to buy more coloring things to make more pictures for her family and friends. I guess we could all learn a bit from Natalie and her generosity. :)
